From the June Solstice to astronomical Lughnasa I will lead a Seven week walk through a contemplation of the Arte of Organic Light.

Lumen Naturae is a Latin phrase from the alchemical and Hermetic traditions. It means, simply, the light of nature. But in these traditions, light was never merely physical. It referred to the intelligence woven into the fabric of creation itself, a living and communicating presence that the natural world perpetually emits, and that the human being, under the right conditions of perception, can receive and also pulse out into the environament. Lumen Naturae is the capacity to perceive that light. It is the organ of subtle knowing. It is what stirs in you when you stand at the edge of a forest at dusk and feel, beneath the sensation, something else, a quality of attention that arises not from your thinking mind but from the living field between your body and the world soul.

This teaching is a process of consciously cultivating the sensing organ of light.

Each week you will receive a direct esoteric teaching on Organic Light and a somatic process to root you into greater cohesion with the Lumen Naturae within your being.

We are living through a moment of profound perceptual crisis. The dominant systems of our time, digital, algorithmic, artificial, are actively reshaping the human sensorium. Not through force, but through saturation. Attention is colonised before it has the chance to settle. The nervous system is conditioned to respond to speed, to surface, to the synthetic. And slowly, beneath our awareness, the subtler registers of perception begin to close.

What closes first is not intelligence. It is receptivity. The capacity to be still enough, and present enough, to receive what the living world is offering. This is not a romantic concern. It is a physiological and spiritual one. When the imaginal faculty weakens, when the body loses its coherence with the field it is embedded in, something essential goes quiet in the human being. We begin to know only what can be measured, only what can be produced, only what arrives through a screen.

The ancients understood that perception was not passive. It was a practice, a cultivation, something that required tending the way a fire requires tending. The subtle faculties of knowing, what the Hermeticists called the light of nature, did not simply exist in a person. They were developed. They were trained through attention, through immersion in the natural world, through specific initiatory processes designed to open the inner senses.

The sensing organ of light exists in you now, as it always has. But it requires conditions. Silence. Slowness. Contact with living systems that operate outside the frequency of the artificial.

In the Western Mystery traditions, light was understood to exist in at least two registers. There was the physical light of the sun, the light that illuminates surfaces and makes the visible world visible. And there was a second light, interior to nature itself, that the alchemists called Lumen Naturae and the Neoplatonists understood as the luminosity of the world soul. This second light was not metaphor. It was considered a real and perceptible substance, a living radiance that interpenetrated all of creation and communicated through the subtle body of the one who had cultivated the capacity to receive it.

For the last two decades I have walked humbely in the study and devotion of Soteira, the World Soul, and much of the medicine I carry whether the Rose or my walk with the Trees, is in devotion to the inhabitation of and learning from the World Soul. In this time coming to the altar of esoteric study and devotion to the living light, is a process that many of us are called to.

Soteira is the one who preserves the light within matter, the one who ensures the divine fire is not entirely lost in descent.
